Maroon Bells is one of our favorite Picnic Areas

A Few of Our Favorite Picnic Areas

Maroon Bells - One of our favorite picnic areas is Maron Bells. Right outside of Aspen during off season you can drive to the lake, but during high seasons you will have to ride the bus from town or you can park at the High School in the summer.

Crystal City - Take Highway 133, South out of Carbondale to the base of Mclure Pass and go left to Marble. From Marble you will need a four wheel drive and an experienced driver. This road is also popular for Four-Wheelers and Mountain Bikers. This is the location of the old Crystal Mill. The road follows the Crystal River named for how clear the water is and has many pullouts for good picnic areas.

Glenwood Canyon/Hanging Lake - I-70 snakes through this canyon just east of Glenwood Springs. Paralleling the highway is a bike path accessible from Glenwood Springs and multiple rest areas throughout the canyon including, No Name Rest Area (with picnic tables and restrooms), Grizzly Creek Rest Area (with picnic tables and restrooms), Hanging Lake Rest Area (with picnic tables and restrooms), Bair Ranch Rest Area (with picnic tables and restrooms). All rest area have hiking Trails that will lead up the drainages except Bair Ranc which has stables for horseback riding. Hanging Lake is our favorite and the trailhead for the World Famous Hanging Lake trail .
